Does Bettisfield have Character? Two of the village’s older buildings (the former shop in Cadney Lane and the Nag’s Head pub) have been empty for some considerable time and their condition has been allowed to deteriorate. Should we be at all concerned about this? Could buildings like these two, if brought back into use, contribute to the village environment? Does anyone care if they disappear? The village is growing, is there a place for conservation in Bettisfield or should developers and WCBC Planning Committee be allowed to do as they please?
Rising water table in the village Is it time to reconsider the provision of mains drainage for the village? Soak aways are not soaking away, tanks are reaching capacity much more quickly than they used to. Surely it is possible to provide the village with an environmentally friendly solution that doesn’t cost the earth? WCBC seems to grant planning permission for village expansion but neither it or the developers seem to contribute anything back to the village. Phil Jones, Oaklea, Cadney Lane |
